Una novela esplendida que recuerda la prosa de Juan Rulfo. Personajes inolvidables como Juan Cariño o llenos de contrastes como Francisco Rojas. Una novela que refleja la Guerra Cristera en México, en un pequeño poblado llamado Ixtepec y narrada por él pueblo mismo, convertido en testigo de lo que pasa en él. Con un lenguaje poético, Elena Garro nos lleva a ver la trajedia de un pueblo que se desangra por un conflicto de poder.

Donde el tiempo confluye. Los recuerdos del porvenir

Los recuerdos del porvenir es quizás la obra cumbre de Elena Garro, trata un momento emblemático de un pueblo típico mexicano, es un antecedente del realismo mágico y tiene un narrador interesante, esta novela dividida en dos partes nos muestra cómo se comporta el mexicano ante la crisis, cómo reacciona ante el dolor, es una crítica suave de un sistema inoperante y lejano no sólo en su política sino en sus creencias. Un juego con el tiempo y su memoria, ese tipo de sucesos que de tan atemporales se transforman en eternos y ya no se sabe si pasan o van a pasar, si son historia o porvenir. Hechos tan tristes como :racismo, ignorancia, corrupción, abuso de poder, impunidad, falta de amor, abulia social, tan comunes en nuestra vida, y un amor que no pudo ser, que no lo fue nunca y el peso terrible de la soledad.
