Very Good Book!

I found this book in the county library and read it cover to cover. I found it very informative and well written. It was clear and to the point. This book deals mainly with pitch class set theory in the twelve-tone and fewer sets, but there is also dealings with more tonal aspects of twentieth century music, such as Stravinky's Petrushka. The author states that it is best to follow along and listen to (or play) the examples as you go. This is true. You can find performances of almost all the examples on youtube. And, the exercises at the end of each chapter are important to really understand the topics. They do help drive home the subject. I'm going to buy this book for reference and for review. It's a great book (a little pricy but definitely worth it). The cover states exactly the content. It's a stimulating read.

He goes back to the roots of tonal music and uses them to aid you in understanding 20th centuary music. The grammer regarding serial music is all there and everything presented to the reader in a clear and concise manner. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to study 20th centuary music.

The important role of land reforms, credit programs and new inputs in boosting agricultural production has also been explained. It also explores whatapproach the global economy should be taking regarding pricing policies and marketing systems. The last part of the book (part five), titled “Agricultural Development in an Interdependent World” explains how international trade is more beneficial and efficient as per proponents of freer trade and how it is worse as per proponents of trade restrictions. It also explains how international trade should be moreaccessible by removing constraints and barriers to international trade and also highlights some influences of macroeconomic policies on prices, and market margins. It also explains the positive effects of foreign aid and assistance on agriculture research and extension in developing countries. Chapter 20 titled, “Lessons and Perspectives” summarizes the various components required for agricultural development. It also discusses future prospectus for agricultural development.

Points, author didn’t cover in the book
1) A lot of issues (poverty, population, and credit and labor market, trade) discussed in the book but given only a slight touch. They should have been explained in a more detail.
2) The book is world based but covers only a case of few countries and did not make a comparison of agricultural growth among countries.
3) It did not mention the role of modern technology in agricultural development and positive effects of population on growth.
4) It only mentioned two or three theories of international trade. There are a number of better theories which are not introduced.

Impressions and suggestions
The book covers almost all the aspects of modern agricultural development economics. It is well written and very systematically structured. A useful list of references and websites is given. The index at the end covers all the important topics.The book should be given a little more touch to make it a standard text. The topics should be explained in more detail and international comparisons be made.

Criticism:
The book has explained no doubt a lot of topics and also covers many case studies but it appears very little when we compare it book with some other books. Many important topics have not been highlighted in the book like methodological issues and governance of agricultural statistics. Organization of rural credit, impact of land reforms, administrative data and size of holdings in different countries should have been highlighted in the book. Another most important aspect that should have been covered in the book is the economic impact of agricultural research and extension on economic development of a country. There are other several important topics like information, incentives and the design of agricultural policies; and synthesis of agricultural trade economics that should have been covered.

excellent book!!

I was very excited when I received this book. I was delivered in a timely manner I was not expecting it to come soon. The pictures are very vivid and labeled accurately. This is a perfect book if you want to have a good command of the anatomy and is very relevant for practicing technologist. My only suggestion is that should be available in electronic form which would make it easy to carry around and convenient reference. I highly recommend this book.

Great Book, Free Shipping but it took forever to get here.

The book is great, BUT..... Ordered it July 10th and it did not ship until July 28th. It was free shipping and was stated to be delivered between July 17th and Aug 1st. I am just glad I didn't need this book I just wanted it. If it would have been for a class that is a different story, I might suggest looking around for faster service.

Fantastic and captivating

Absolutely loved this book, you can connect with the characters and you feel like you are there in the midst of the turmoil and just want to reach in and help.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what the next book is going to be about, with an ending like this there had better be another one.

Kudos to Bridget Essex for another fantastic book, her talent for telling stories that seem like real life is incredible. Looking forward to more book from her :)

Delightful and thrilling!

Bridget Essex is a favorite author of mine, and I think this is her best work yet. Date Knight is a delightful whirlwind of humor, passion, suspense, love, and a deep sense of wonder. Holly, a librarian, is navigating her relationship with her new girlfriend, Virago -- a knight from Agrotera, another world apart from Earth. In this sequel to Essex's A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER, Virago and Holly are called back to Agrotera to protect the queen, but not before Virago's fellow knights visit Boston to pick her up and create a load of hilarious, rollicking trouble.

I consider the plot of DATE KNIGHT to be pretty much perfect in form: what seems like a straightforward concept (protect the queen from assassination) is deepened by creative details, vibrant characters, twists, and description that absolutely scintillated. The characters were so lively and well thought out (I adore Queen Calla -- she's so very well-developed, so strong and complex, where many authors might make the mistake of letting a symbolic figure like a queen become flat). The landscape of Agrotera and Arktos City was crystal clear in my mind. The whole novel had a sense of wonder, of huge scale, that drew me through page after page. I wanted to start over and read it again once I finished.

An outstanding magical love story!

I won't give spoilers but I will say this novel is outstanding and is woven with many fantasy elements, magic, adventures and love. The setting is beautiful, written with vivid details that brings you in the story. My favorite knight is Virago, an exotic strong confident woman. She needs to protect her lover, her queen and her country of Arktos. Her Arktos, a captivating magical world dominated by women, and the queen are under threat of being conquered by evil. But she doesn't have to do it alone. Along with her friends, a bunch of truly stunning knights, she goes into battle. There were so many moments that I had my heart in my throat, that I could feel the fear of Holly and of all the others.It's so well written you can easily picture everything in your mind. You'll find yourself immersed in the characters and you will fall in love with Holly. She is a warm, compassionate loving woman. The romance between Virago and Holly tugged at my heartstrings. This is what is called, true love. Date Knight is a fantastic novel that never disappointed. I highly recommend Date Knight and the first one, A Knight to remember.

Boring and incomplete

Omg this book is not only so boring on what should be a very interesting topic (it rambles on and ON and doesn't get to the point), the glossary doesn't have all the highlighted key terms from the chapters?! I mean the book more so gives an example of what may be occuring when a term is used but I feel it doesn't give an actual definition for the term, and when you go to look it up it's not there. All my other text books give both an example of how a term is being applied and also the SPECIFIC definition of that term.

Good material... Too many typos.

This book is currently in the 8th editions. While the subject matter is contemporary and relevant, this book has more typos in it than ANY other textbook I have ever used.

After 8 editions they should have had time to clean these things up. When I bought this book there were not used books, or e-texts available, and honestly, nearly $200 is too much to pay for what really is, less than a finished product. The typos are distracting and it is very frustrating to see them every few pages.
